The title of this piece is the refrain I use when bumping into Woke acquaintances in my country town when we have weather like we’ve been experiencing recently – cold temperatures, snow falls in the highlands, and torrential rain on the coast. I remember that Climate Councillor, Tim Flannery, proclaimed to us in 2007 that rain was a thing of the past and ‘even the rain that falls that won’t fill the dams’.
Tell that to the NSW SES on the South Coast of NSW last week. They warned of flood events on the South Coast of NSW and advised residents to ‘batten down the hatches’.
The Woke in my country town shuffle away, shake their heads, and sneeringly mumble, ‘bloody climate denier’. Even in the freezing cold. It’s a title, I am happy to admit, that I embrace.
Early morning on the local radio station, the host implored listeners to have a look at the Climate Council’s new interactive app which supposedly shows how rising sea levels from ‘Climate Change’ will flood the properties of coastal towns in the future. It triggered memories for me of photographs I have seen of the Statue of Liberty in New York Harbour in 1920 and 2020 and also Fort Denison in Sydney Harbour in 1859 and 2023, which show infinitesimal, if any, rise in sea levels.
The above is just one of many of the failed climate catastrophe predictions of our planet’s impending doom.
In 1970, it was Kenneth Watt in a Pennsylvanian college lecture who asserted that we would be in an Ice Age by the year 2000. Well, his Science was far from settled. Then there was Al Gore’s Inconvenient Truth in 2006 that included such dud predictions, as I recall, that the world would hit ‘the point of no return’ by 2016 where the Arctic and Antarctic Polar ice caps would have melted and the ensuing sea rise would flood Greenland and the Pacific Islands and polar bears would be extinct. It’s a good thing he is not a punter as the bookies would have cleaned him out.
Then there have also been the United Nations contributions. The then-Chief of the UN Climate Panel Rajendra Pachauri in 2007 claimed, ‘If there is no action before 2012, that’s too late … this is the defining moment.’ Then there was UN Secretary General António Guterres in March 2023 advising, ‘Dear friends, humanity is on thin ice … and that ice is melting fast.’ Then not long after he proclaimed that, ‘The Era of Global Warming has passed, and the Era of Global Boiling has arrived.’
Perhaps he should come and visit Southwestern Queensland and the NSW Northern Tablelands where they have just experienced the heaviest Snowfalls since 1984.
Perhaps not, he might leave a couple of polar bear cubs behind, in the interests of their preservation, of course. It might also cause his embarrassment to reach boiling point if he experienced the Inconvenient Truth.
What chance do we have in this country when it appears that the Woke have inherited our land with the government aided and abetted by AEMO, the CSIRO, and the Productivity Commission – an oxymoron if ever I’ve heard one. Then there is the government being run by the likes of King Canute Albo holding back the rising seas at Copacabana and Don Quixote Bowen tilting at his Windmills.
